Cleveland Ohio – Did You Know?

Cleveland is located on the southern shore of Lake Erie in northeastern Ohio and named after its founder General Moses Cleaveland. Records show that the “a” was dropped after there was a problem fitting the full name into a newspaper masthead.

Cleveland was founded in 1796 as a manufacturing center due to the lake shore location and connection to numerous canals and railroad lines. Interestingly, in 1879, Cleveland became the world’s first city to be fully lighted electrically.

There are many fun and worthwhile places to visit in Cleveland including unique museums and hall of fame’s. The locations described below each have a “hot link” directly to the individual website for your convenience. Enjoy!
